I bought this product because I have been wanting to use more Aveda products and since I've been using another (cheaper) tinted moisturizer for years, I thought this would be a good switch for better results. I have a lot of sun damange and hyperpigmentation and although this product was nice, it did not provide any coverage for my problems and I ended putting the old stuff on over it. If you have nice skin to begin with, this is probably a nice product, but after trying it once I've decided to stick with Marcelle's tinted moisturizer with SPF 15. In this case, spending more money did not equal better results. On another note - I do love Aveda products, just wouldn't bother with this paticula poduct!

This is a little thicker of a foundation so those with oily skin may want to approach with caution. The range of colors in this foundation were probably the best I have seen with Aveda so far, offering very fair to dark with a reddish base. You need to apply and blend FAST because it seems to harden and won't budge unless you use a facial spray to loosen it and reapply.

Nice colour selection but needed the help of a sponge and/or brush to apply smoothly & evenly.
This stuff made my face break out into tiny bumps all over my forehead and cheeks - it was awful.
Never again. continued >>

I love this foundation, I use it every day. It stays put, and provides enough coverage for me without looking like I am "made-up". I apply over mac prep + prime, and if I wanna go a little fancier, I set it with their inner-light loose powder. This is the only foundation I have found which has actually helped my skin look better, rather then breaking me out, which you gotta love. I also am so happy that they changed their packaging to include the little pump, which makes it a lot easier for me to get the product out. My only problem with it is that it is a little hard for me to find a perfect color match (they turn out a little pinkish sometimes on my olive skin) What I do is mix a little bit of their lightest shade (vanilla-01) with the shade that is a tiny bit too dark for me (Desert-06) and I can get the perfect color that just melts into my face. It's a bit more expensive to buy two and time consuming to mix, but not too bad and it's totally worht it to me for the result I get!
EDIT: I still really love this foundation, but my skin is better now and it was just too time consuming and expensive. I don't do it for everyday wear, but sometimes for special occasions I'll break out what I have left over.

I have sensitive combo skin and this worked out great for me. It left me with a natural, dewy finish and lasted all day without turning chalky or cakey. The formula is creamy and moisturizing, so a little goes a long way. I apply this with a foundation brush, so its easier to blend.

I bought this foundation over a week ago and have been using it every day. I must say…I am very impressed. It is a very light gel like formula that I find sinks right into my skin. It covers well (although I still use concealer on some of my acne scars) and blends like a dream. I have been skipping the moisturizer step in my skin care routine and I notice that when I do this foundation is a bit harder to blend but the finish is much better….almost dewy but not greasy. In the summer I am too oily for moisturizer so I look for a liquid foundation that has a hint of moisture without being too heavy and I think I found it with this one. I am NW20 and flax is a perfect match. This product has a slight lavender smell which I enjoy but it does fade quickly for those sensitive to scents. I do NOT have great skin and I got 2 compliments while wearing this foundation. One thing I did notice is that it does get streaky if you apply it over a moisturizer…..I dealt with this by gently buffing my face with a sponge once the foundation had set. The SA recommended I set this with a powder but I do not feel that is needed as I am looking for a dewy / natural look. Overall this is a fantastic foundation…I’m going back to try more aveda products!
I love that this is in a bottle...and so far it has not broken me out...will check back in and let you know if that changes in a month or so...but normally products break me out immediatly if they are going to and have had no problems so far.

This is a very pretty foundation. It really does glow. (Guys notice it, or me wearing it, anway, and I'm starting to think of myself as middle-aged!)
It also, unfortunately, breaks me out. Sorry.

I really love this foundation. my skin is sensitive and acne pron, so they told me to try it and if i did not like it i could return it. at first i was surprised at how thick it was is the bottle, but we i put it on it did not feel heavy and it gave me a great coverage without break outs.I took one star off for the packaging.
after using this product for a while now i noticed that it gave me a gray look. i will not be buying this foundation again.

wow, i'm surprised at the bad reviews! i've been using this for over a year now. while it isn't the easiest to apply, it gives pretty good coverage throughout the day. the shade 02 blends into my skin really well, i've gotten repeated compliments from my sister- my most honest friend and critic. Also, I have very sensitive skin, and i have been able to use this product daily without breakouts- one of the few makeups i am able to wear. i MUST apply moisturizer, or else it doesnt blend in well.

This foundation is full coverage, and does a better than average job of covering my acne scars. However, it does look like you're 'wearing makeup' (even when I combine just a little bit with a moisturizer). Also, it makes me break out.

I have a really hard time finding a good color match, so finding Wheat which is a great match for me NC35 skin was a great begining. I love how this goes on. It's very thick in the bottle (which to me makes no sense... how do you get such a thick, gel like foundation out of a bottle without sticking something inside??). But once applied to skin, it goes on fairly sheer. It evens out my skin nicely and looks very, very natural. A bit glowy but with no sparkly bits. I use Bamboo concealor with in to cover acne scars and dust MAC MSF powder on top. And voila! Great looking skin. Most liquid foundations make my otherwise small pores look enlarged. I've tried EVERYTHING, and I know this gets a lot of bad reviews here, but try it. FYI - the lippie I took off was for the packaging, otherwise it would have been 5.EDIT: Its breaking me out :((

I wanted to like this product because I have had a hard time with foundations. I was excited to try it because Aveda products are organic. This foundation was very thick , had a strong smell and broke me out. I thought that "GREEN" products were supposed to be better than this.

This is a completely average product. Nothing spectacular to me. If you want a real inner glow, check out Armani foundations--they are superb. If you want matte finish--look to Lancome TIU or EL Double Wear. The feel and spreading ability of this foundation is mediocre; the colors are good but the finish just emphasizes your pores and lines. I cant imagine it looking good on someone who doesnt have flawless skin to begin with. And if one does, why would they be wearing foundation and not just a tinted moisturizer? ...

Horrible! This foundation is so thick that one can barely get it out of the bottle! It spreads fine, but it then seems to just sit on the face and look overly "Make-up-y." It's consistency is simply awful. I'm trying to find some good things to say about it, but I really can't get over how difficult it is to even get out of the bottle. An amazing disappointment.

EDIT REVIEW: I think Aveda first repackaged this item and left the formula pretty close to the original BUT then they must have reformulated it later. Anyway, I sure did not get what I thought I was getting w/this. I agree it is very thick and not nearly as nice as it used to be. I don't get it. Anyway, if used sparingly and on well hydrated skin, this works okay. It's such a great color match for me so I'm sad they had to basically ruin a good thing.

The shade Hichory is the best match to my skintone Mac NW45/ Bobbi B W. Almond/ Becca Nuba skintone that I've found to date and the texture of this foundation was great for my acne scars. However, it was too thick for me to wear regularly as I hate the feel of heavy makeup on my skin. I believe it made me breakout after two weeks so I stopped using it. The packaging was terrible for such a thick foundation. No pump, so thr bottle head got quite messy and i had to keep wiping the excess off thre bottle neck. Bad waste of producted. Also far too matte to go unnoticed. My mom mentioned that she could definately wearing makeup. Will not repurchase

The Aveda concept of cruelty-free, natural beauty is wonderful, but every time I fall in love with a product, it is discontinued or changed when I return to re-purchase. This foundation is average, and I but I bet you it will be discontinued within a year!

This is a GREAT foundation!!! I purchased the Caramel color and it matched my skin so nicely. It makes my skin look even and radiant. This is the first foundation that I have found that matches my skin color, I can use without it irritating my skin, or breaking me out. I would definitely purchase again!

This is a TERRIBLE foundation for me. The formula is so thick I have to scoop it out with a q-tip, it spreads horribly- drying in patches all over my face- and that is WITH a wet makeup sponge to blend! It's too bad b/c the color, Kasha, seemed like it would have been flattering to my skin.

Aveda please bring back balance-plus foundation. This new stuff does not compare to it. Definetly will be looking for a new HG foundation.
